Welcome to the first day of school for the 2015-16 school year. I would like to give you a couple of reminders before classes begin:
1. Check your skyward account and print your schedule. We are working hard to adjust class sizes and your students schedule may have changed.
2. We are also looking at adding a math instructor after the start of the year so schedules may need to be altered again. We apologize for the inconvenience. We appreciate your patience in the create the best possible educational experience.
The first quarter of the 2014-2015 school year is half over and your child's progress report is available for viewing in Skyward Family Access.
As stated in the Student Handbook, we won't be mailing home progress reports during the year and only mailing report cards at the end of Semester 1 and Semester 2. If you do not have access to the internet and need a hard copy of the progress report, please contact the counseling center at 249-1636.
To view your child's progress report, log into Skyward Family Access and choose "Gradebook." Once you have chosen the Gradebook you will see P1 (Progress Report 1). These are the grades your child currently has. If you have any questions regarding those grades, please contact their teacher.
Parents, as you look ahead at your family calendars and make plans, there are a few dates in the next couple of weeks to remember. Student progress reports will be coming in the next couple of weeks, so be sure to talk with your student and keep up to date in Skyward Family Access.
We also have two non-student days just around the corner. Friday, October 10, and Monday, October 13, 2014 are both non-student days. The 10th is used as a state inservice day where many teachers attend annual meetings with other teachers and the 13th is teacher training as well. This is valuable time set aside for teachers to stay current and work together for all the students in Montesano. If you have any questions about events that are up coming, please call the school at 249-4041 and we will be happy to answer your questions
Parents, this week we will be mailing home your students results of the HSPE and EOC testing from the spring of 2014. Along with the the score is some explanation about the testing from the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI).
Should you have any questions about the results or the information sheets please don't hesitate to contact the school.
Please allow me to call your attention once again to this program available to High School Juniors who may be qualified and consider applying for the Naval Academy following graduation next year (2015). Applications opened on 1 February, 2014. Specific information is available at - http://www.usna.edu/Admissions/nass.htm.
