Senior Order Week at Jostens!

Washington State Healthy Youth Survey Fall 2023

Our school will be participating in the Washington State Healthy Youth Survey on Wednesday, October 18 during first period for grades 8, 10, and 12. Participation in the survey is voluntary and the student’s answers are anonymous. There are no codes or information used to match a survey to a student. Survey results are used by schools, communities, and state agencies to plan programs to support our youth and reduce their risks. 

The Healthy Youth Survey includes questions related to physical activity and diet, unintentional and intentional injury, substance abuse, sexual behaviors, abuse, risk and protective factors, and access to school- based services

Homecoming Dance Tickets on sale Monday!

The Homecoming Dance, A Night in Paris, will be Saturday, October 7 from 8:00-10:30PM. This dance is for high school students only. Tickets are $15 if paying with cash or check.  Tickets can also be purchased online (scan the QR code in the Bookkeeping window-there is a service fee charge for this option).  Tickets can be purchased before school, during HS lunch, or after school. Tickets will not be sold during class time or between passing periods.

If you are bringing a guest from another school to our dance, you must list their name in the Office and pick up a Dance Guest Form. The dance form needs to be signed by the guest and their school’s administration. Additionally, all guests (+their MHS date) will have a brief interview (either in-person or by video) with Ms. Greene in order to be approved to attend this MHS function. The final day to have your interview and guest approval is Friday, September 29.

Here are some important Yearbook deadlines for Seniors:

  • Senior Portrait and Quote: November 25, 2023

  • Senior Ads: March 6, 2024

Picture formats need to be jpeg, high resolution. You may submit your portraits and quotes to the Yearbook directly at: yearbook@monteschools.org

Keep in mind that senior portraits and quotes have an earlier deadline than the senior ads. Additionally, all photos and quotes submitted must be school-appropriate. We respectfully reserve the right to reject any ad, photo, or quote that is inappropriate for the yearbook. The source of the quote must be cited as well.

Blood Drive - September 27

Montesano High School ASB is hosting an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Wednesday, September 27 from 10:00AM-3:00PM here at MHS. This event is OPEN to the public and we still have quite a few spots available.  Please help us fill the schedule by signing up to donate and/or spreading the word to your friends and family. Homecoming Class Shirts

Homecoming Week is October 2-6 and a super fun opportunity for high school students to get involved in their class activities!  Each year, the classes are a different color and vote on a class theme to decorate their hallway:  Freshman are RED, Sophomores are PURPLE, Juniors are BLUE, Seniors are CAMO.  The classes design a homecoming shirt that is available to wear on class color day.  This shirt is 100% optional, students can absolutely participate in class color day by simply wearing anything in their class color.  Class color day is: Wednesday, October 4th.

The store for this year's homecoming shirts is NOW OPEN, if you are interested in purchasing a class shirt, please see the important information below:

  • ONLY purchase the shirt for YOUR CLASS

  • ALL SHIRTS are shipping to the high school and will be delivered to your student's class advisor...even if at checkout it says it's shipping to your address.  

  • The store CLOSES: Sunday, September 17 at midnight...after this time NO ORDERS can be placed.

Football at Aberdeen this Friday

Aberdeen High School is selling tickets to Friday night’s football game online. Click here to purchase your football tickets. Your tickets will be displayed on your phone for quick access into the game and you will skip the long cash lines. (Tickets can still be purchased at the gate.)

*Note: MHS student’s with ASB cards will pay the $4 ticket price listed on the ticketing page.

7th Grade Orientation - Thursday 8/24

Our 7th grade orientation will be on Thursday, August 24. We will begin the evening in the MHS Commons at 6:00PM where you will meet the Principal, Assistant Principal, Office Staff, Counseling Staff, and other staff members. 

After this presentation, students will be encouraged to practice their locker combinations and get a feel for the campus layout and class locations.  We encourage parent(s) to attend this important evening with your student.

Annual Student Information Update Opens Monday 8/14

The Annual Student Information Update for the 2023-2024 school year will be available in Skyward from Monday, August 14 through Friday, August 18. It is critical that you complete all steps during this registration window.  All students must have these forms completed in order to view their class schedules and locker assignments.

To begin the annual update, log into Skyward: Parents/guardians will need to log into Skyward Family Access.  Click here to go to Skyward.  If you do not remember your password, need it reset, or just need assistance with Skyward, you can email mhsskyward@monteschools.org or leave a message at 360.249.1635. We will be checking these messages regularly to make sure you get the assistance you need.

This weekend, Drama presents: Beauty and the Beast

A tale as old as time...

The Drama Club will be presenting a production of Beauty and the Beast! This Friday, May 26 and Saturday, May 27, showtimes are at 7:00PM, with a matinee on Sunday, May 28, at 2:00PM in the Commons. Tickets are available at the door and are $5.  Doors will open 30 minutes prior to show time and it is anticipated that there will be snacks available by donation.

Junior High Testing Next Week

Next week, junior high students will be taking the spring diagnostic test for i-Ready in both math and ELA.  This is a district assessment administered on the computer and takes an hour to complete on average. The test is one of many assessments we use to measure student growth in the area of mathematics and reading.  We will send home test results with students the following week to share with guardians/parents.
