NEW FOR 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR!
We are pleased to announce that Beacon Elementary and Simpson Elementary school meal programs will be supplemented by Meals for Washington Students funds. Meals for Washington Students funds are available to select WA schools participating in the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program.
What does this mean for my student(s) who attend Beacon and Simpson school?
In schools supplemented by Meals for Washington Students funds, all students receive a nutritious breakfast and lunch at NO COST, regardless of family income.
Why is the Montesano School District still requesting financial information?
The information you provide by returning the free and reduced-price meal application impacts the funding that each school receives from the federal and state government. The meal application is used to capture information and ensure the Montesano School District receives all of the funding it is entitled to for federal meal programs and state educational programs. This will also ensure that this free program will continue in future years.
How will this information be protected?
In keeping with current practices, your eligibility status remains confidential. Only key personnel in the program have access to this information.
What do I need to do?
Complete the free and reduced-price meal application form which will be available in Skyward mid to late September. We will notify families when the new application is available in Skyward. If you prefer, you can complete a paper form that will be sent home the first week of school. Forms are also available in the office or by clicking on the links below:
2024-2025 Letter to Households (English / Spanish)
2024-2025 Free & Reduced Meal Application (English / Spanish)
Please return the form to your school or the District Office at 502 E Spruce Avenue. Your assistance in helping us maintain our current funding levels is greatly appreciated. In order to qualify for the Summer EBT (SunBucks) program, you must qualify as free or reduced eligible.
Can I still purchase just milk?
Yes, milk can be purchased for $0.35. Payments should be made through Skyward Family Access using a debit or credit card. Cash or checks can be accepted by the cashier in the multipurpose room before school or in the school office, but online payments are preferred.
What will happen to the funds that are on my student food service account?
The funds will remain on the student account for future milk or a la carte purchases or to be used when the student reaches the 7th grade. If you would like to transfer the funds on account to a sibling or another student for use at the Junior/Senior High School, please email Sheila Baker at sbaker@monteschools.org
If you have any questions, please contact Sheila Baker at 360-249-1235, sbaker@monteschools.org or Cindy Wecker at 360-249-1237, cwecker@monteschools.org.
