Head Lice
Upon referral from staff, the nurse will do a head check on a student for live lice and/or nits (lice eggs). If live lice is found, parents will be notified, and the student sent home for treatment. If only nits are found, the student will be sent home at the discretion of the nurse for treatment. If attendance becomes an issue, plans will be made to accommodate the student to maintain educational consistency. The student must be checked by the nurse in the office before returning to class. To prevent the spread of lice at school, parents are asked to notify the school nurse if their child has been discovered to have lice.
